Weddings Galore

June was full of family weddings in Utah.  The first was my youngest sister Kristi's who got married the second weekend of June.  Asher and I had an adventure driving out to Utah while Riley stayed home and studied.  It was quite a long drive.  I discovered that Asher is no longer happy to just sleep in his carseat the entire drive.  We had to make many a stops to quiet the crying and it ended up taking almost 12 hrs to get there!  The wedding was on Saturday at the SL Temple and then the reception was up in Midway at this awesome mansion.  There was cake and a soft serve ice cream maker, YUM!  Asher was a popular baby since a lot of my relatives hadn't met him yet.  It was so fun to see everyone!  Unfortunately I did not get a single picture of our visit so, Kristi, if you read this, can you please send me some wedding pics when you get them?!?!?

The second wedding was this past weekend and it was Riley's youngest sister Julia.  This time Riley took a 24 hour break from studying so that he could be there for the actual wedding.  The original plan was for me to drive again with Asher but after the first trip I decided that I would not be doing that again!  Luckily Riley's dad paid for us all to fly out!  (Thanks Riley!)  Riley's flight left at 11 am and Asher and I flew out at 1 pm.  It was Asher's first time on a plane and he was very good (as usual).  He was super happy when we first got on and smiled at all of the people boarding the plane.  As soon as we took off, he fell asleep on my lap and slept almost the entire flight.  This wedding was also at the SL Temple and the reception was at the Grand America in the courtyard.  Ice cream, brownies, cake and candies galore!  Here are some pics of the trip!

Asher's 6 Month Update

Well as you can probably tell from my lack of posting, it has been a busy month! Work for me, gross amounts of studying for Riley and lots of growing and cuteness for Asher! He has hit the six month mark and is getting bigger and cuter everyday :) The day before he was officially 6 months he figured out how to sit up all on his own. He is doing his best to become mobile as well and is scooting and rolling all over the place. He's working on getting his knees under him but luckily he has not figured it out yet . . . . we are definitely in need of some baby proofing!

Asher also started eating some fruits and veggies in the past month. We started with carrots which he seemed to like pretty well until I gave him some of my mom's canned peaches which he just gobbled up! He LOVES his peaches :) We have since tried sweet potatoes, which he doesn't like all that much (unless mixed w/ peaches), avacado, which he REALLY did not seem to like (we're talking serious gagging, LOL), and most recently green beans, which he seems to like almost as much as the peaches. He is doing great eating from a spoon and even grabs my hand with the spoon to get it into his mouth quicker! When he's enjoying his peaches or green beans he lunges for the next spoonful. It is sooo cute! Oh, and did I mention, he also got his first tooth! I told you it was a busy month.

Graduation Baby!

The past month has been busy with family coming out to help us with Asher as Riley finished up finals and I made my transition back into work. We have had so much fun having you all visit mom, Heather, Riley, Sharon, and Sarah! Thanks for coming to our aid over the past month! Asher, I know loved spending time with all of you :)

The past weekend was of course a day that has been greatly anticipated by us all for the past three years . . . . . . . dun, dun, dun, dun . . . . . . GRADUATION! Yes folks, it is official, Riley has completed three long and arduous years of law school and we couldn't be prouder of him! He has a huge diploma that now sits proudly on our mantel that declares he is a J.D. He was filling out this survey the other day that asked what level of schooling he had completed and he got to mark the highest option listed. It was pretty cool. He said something to the effect of . . . 'I've completed the highest level of schooling I can. If I ever went back to school, it'd just be to show off at this point.' (Sorry, babe, I know you put it a bit more eloquently than that so feel free to correct me :)

Riley's favorite part (and possibly the only part he really enjoyed) was getting to carry Asher with him when he walked. It was just about the cutest thing I have ever seen. They announced both Riley and Asher's names and as Riley walked across the stage to get his diploma, he held Asher up over his head for all to see. It was awesome. Anyway, we got some great pics of the day. Here are a few for you all to enjoy!

Block Party???

So a couple weekends ago we had some excitement on our street. Our friends next door texted and said "Are you seeing this? Look out your front window." Well I looked out the window and saw nothing so I decided to venture out to see what was happening. As I opened the garage I saw about 6 police cars blocking our street off and cops going in and out of a house a few doors down. The entire neighborhood had come out to see what was going on! Riley and Asher came out along with our friends next door and we all watched as more police cars showed up along with an ambulance and fire truck. We never did find out what happened but it sure was a sweet block party :)
